Neem: benefits from root to leaves

Neem is a plant that brings medicinal, chemical and industrial benefits, in addition to generating income for families living on small farms.

The neem (or neem) plant , known scientifically as Azadirachta indica , is a tree from Southeast Asia and the Indian subcontinent . The neem is a tree with a tropical climate, which can be grown in warm regions and well-drained soils; it is drought resistant, fast growing, dense canopy and can reach up to 20 meters in height. The neem is able to withstand extreme conditions of heat and water pollution, improves soil fertility and rehabilitates degraded land. In addition, this tree plays an important role in controlling soil erosion, salinization and preventing flood effects.

Pollution, animal extinction, depletion of natural resources, climate catastrophes and the greenhouse effect are some of the problems that humanity has been facing due to its irresponsibility towards the environment. As a result, the search for natural resources that are renewable and less impactful has been an unremitting practice. One of the most surprising discoveries is this tree that has the potential to mitigate environmental and health damage globally: the neem , which can be used in different ways in different types of products.

Currently, there are large neem plantations in Nicaragua, Cuba, El Salvador, Chile, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic and even Germany and the United States. In Brazil, the plant was introduced by Belmiro Pereira das Neves, in 1993, in the fight against the use of pesticides . According to him, neem can be used not only in the production of pesticides, but also in family farming, as the tree produces shade and fruit. The neem tree specialist also points out that the neem is also being used in areas that have undergone a process of desertification and in reforestation projects, replacing pine and eucalyptus.because its fruits attract animals.

Neem benefits: its timber, press mahogany, is tough and his seed, bark and leaves can be used in the manufacture of appliances, pesticides, repellents, drugs (therapeutic function), cosmetics, in addition to the advantage of their culture to be considered low cost.
